Business Continuity and EPRR Officer

 As DHU’s Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (BC & EPRR) Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our organisation is ready to respond to and recover from disruptive events. Working closely with the BC & EPRR Lead and the Accountable Emergency Officer, you’ll help deliver effective plans, ensure compliance, and strengthen our organisation’s resilience to protect patients, colleagues, and the communities we serve.

Location: Derby or Oldbury with some travel involved

Salary: £37,338 per annum 

Contract: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Closing Date: 24th of October

What your typical day looks like

  • Support the development, maintenance and delivery of DHU’s Business Continuity and EPRR frameworks.
  • Review, test and improve emergency and continuity plans across services, ensuring compliance with national standards.
  • Represent DHU at local and regional EPRR groups, building collaborative relationships with system partners.
  • Coordinate training, exercises and post-incident reviews, embedding lessons learned into organisational plans.
  • Provide expert advice, assurance and reporting to senior leaders on BC & EPRR performance and readiness.

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in emergency planning, business continuity or crisis management.
  • Experience working in an EPRR or related role within the public or healthcare sector.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities across all levels.
  • Knowledge of NHS governance, statutory emergency planning frameworks and risk management principles.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours support during incidents.

Desirable:

  • ISO 22301:2019 Foundation or CBCI qualification.
  • JESIP or Emergo Senior Instructor training.
  • Experience delivering EPRR training and exercises.
