Clinical Mandatory Trainer

Contract: Permanent

Location Derby

Hours: 7.5 hours per week

Salary: £47,440 (Band 7) Pro rata


As a mandatory Clinical Trainer, you will work in partnership with the Director of Nursing and Quality, Lead Nurse and the clinical practice development lead in order to deliver a variety of mandatory and clinical training topics required across DHU Urgent Care CIC. You will be responsible for the delivery of comprehensive training to ensure safety to patients and staff across DHU Healthcare CIC


What your daily duties will look like:

  • Assist in the development and delivery of mandatory training programmes demonstrating a high level of knowledge, skill and understanding of basic clinical assessment. 
  • Be willing to undertake further training as required to fulfil the mandatory/ clinical training curriculum. 
  • Work flexibly within the Mandatory Training Team to ensure delivery of required training, eg cross boundary cover within DHU Healthcare
  • Act as a resource and role model for colleagues.
  • Exhibit theoretical and practical knowledge of the clinical role, in addition to an understanding of the various roles within DHU Healthcare.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Management Teams, identify training and development needs within DHU Healthcare CIC and proactively management learning requirements as new contracts are secured by the organization.
  • Ensure that training is appropriately planned as a result of audit outcomes
  • Work with the audit team to develop learning outcomes generated from clinical or untoward incidents and assist in the development of educational training plans as required.
  • Assist in training and development strategies to comply with national developments in clinical practice, prescribing or national/ clinical guidelines regarding disease and disease management.
  • Be a team player and work alongside other members of the clinical training team to plan and deliver sessions.
  • Work with teams to assist in the production of programmes that are satisfactory to all relevant parties in DHU Healthcare CIC. 
  • Work with the clinical practice development lead and the training team to produce and deliver training materials for in-house courses, assessments and re-validation of skills, employing flexibility and variation of techniques to suit different learning styles. 
  • Work closely with the IT Department to develop an I.T. platform for learning resources, training databases and e-learning training and assessment.

To be successful for this role, you will need:

  • First level Registered Nurse / Registered Paramedic
  • Substantial clinical experience. Experience supported by the appropriate post registration qualifications
  • Good IT skills including use of video conferencing 
  • able to demonstrate a knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.
  • Teaching / Mentorship qualification (desirable)
