Palliative Care Clinical Lead
Location: DHU Healthcare based at Lakelands Hospice, Butland Rd, Corby NN18 8LX
Hours: 37.5 hours per week,
Salary: from £55,276 to £74,905 depending on experience
In this role, you will provide professional clinical and operational leadership to an integrated multidisciplinary team, including Day and Night HCA, Hospice at Home and Rapid Response team, ensuring the systems, processes and support structures are in place to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care. You will play a key role in fostering a strong culture of patient safety, professional accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible, compassionate and effective clinical leadership across the Palliative and Community Nursing services, creating a culture where roles, responsibilities and professional accountability are clearly understood.
- Support the Senior Leadership Team to ensure services operate efficiently, meet contractual and commissioning requirements, and align with organisational priorities.
- Lead the review, development and implementation of palliative and community care clinical pathways, ensuring compliance with national guidance, quality standards and agreed KPIs.
- Provide expert clinical oversight, contributing to the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical standards and best practice through evidence-based decision-making.
- Drive service development and improvement initiatives, ensuring agreed changes are implemented effectively and evaluated for their impact on patient outcomes.
- Support the delivery of CQUINs and other quality initiatives relating to palliative and end-of-life care.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A BSc or Master’s degree (e.g., Health Leadership, Healthcare Management, Community Nursing Care) or equivalent experience.
- Previous clinical leadership experience within a healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and safeguarding requirements.
- Experience in medication management, emergency care and end-of-life care.
- Knowledge of nursing care for older people, including dementia and palliative care.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and effectively manage competing priorities.
- A strong commitment to person-centred, values-led care.
