Purchasing Coordinator – 6 Months Fixed Term Contract
Begin your exciting journey as a Purchasing Coordinator with DHU Healthcare!
As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for purchasing and sourcing essential goods and services for teams across DHU Healthcare. You will work within DHU processes and systems to procure clinical and non-clinical goods and services at the best possible value. You will also support vendor and supplier management activities, including updating databases, conducting contract reviews, and assisting with pricing exercises.
You will assist with administrative tasks such as managing the shared email inbox and creating ticket actions for yourself and team members. Additionally, you will liaise with internal staff and external suppliers, ensuring all departments have what they need to deliver outstanding care.

Competitive salary: £24,071 (Band 3)

What your typical day looks like:
- Support other team members by way of managing shared inbox, creating new tickets in ticketing system and escalating urgent requests.
- Enable timely and accurate processing of requisitions to orders in line with agreed KPIs and to meet users’ deadlines.
- Complete competitive quotation exercises as needed in line with agreed timelines.
- Support with setting new vendors/suppliers as required/requested in line with agreed timelines.
- Negotiate with suppliers and user departments to ensure best value for money. Ensure a full audit trail is available and filed.
- Action urgent requests to ensure product availability to facilitate delivery of front-line services and adjusting priorities to meet users’ needs. Where users have selected a supplier, and better value can be achieved from a different supplier ensure the user is informed of the proposed switch.
- Ensure all orders raised are checked for accuracy and approved prior to sending to suppliers.
- Liaise with suppliers/vendors over details of orders to meet users’ needs.
- Expedite the delivery and receipting of orders.
- Respond to enquiries and ensure user requests for update of progress on orders are actioned promptly in line with agreed timescales (KPIs).
- Reporting and Data analysis in line with DHU requirements.
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
To be a successful Purchase Coordinator, you will need:
- Math’s & English GCSE, ‘O’level or similar.
- Experience of working within a Purchasing/Procurement department desirable.
- Previous experience of working in NHS or Healthcare organisation desirable.
- Experience working within an administrative or customer services role
- Experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Strong desire to work as part of a team and collaborative with others across the organisation in a professional customer focused manner.
- Proficient numeracy skills and strong analytical and statistical ability.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
- Ability to present information clearly and effectively both verbal and written.
- Right to work in the UK.
