DHU Academy Development Lead

Location: Derby 

Contract Type: Permanent 


The postholder will act as a role model for professional development, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, quality standards, and external apprenticeship frameworks. As the development lead you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating high-quality learning interventions that build skills, knowledge, and behaviours across the organisation

What your typical day looks like:

  • Partner with leaders to assess learning needs and align development initiatives with business goals/ creating of LNA’s
  • Lead on the implementation of enhancing DHU Academy reputation
  • Build relationship with external partners to explore and drive new funding streams for the academy
  • Analyse learning data to measure impact and inform continuous improvement
  • Promote a culture of learning, inclusion, and innovation across the organisation
  • Provide tailored apprenticeship coaching and mentoring to learners, supporting them through apprenticeship programmes or internal development pathways
  • Monitor learner progress, conduct reviews, and provide feedback to ensure successful outcomes
  • Collaborate with line managers to ensure alignment of learning objectives
  • Support learners in developing professional behaviours, and workplace competencies
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with quality assurance and safeguarding standards
  • Design, deliver, and facilitate engaging learning programmes, workshops, and e-learning
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of L&D initiatives using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with managers to align learning solutions with organisational priorities
  • Provide 1:1 and group coaching to apprentices, supporting their learning journey and achievement of standards
  • Guide apprentices in building their portfolios and preparing for End Point Assessment 

To be Successful for this role, you will need:

  • Strong understanding of apprenticeship standards and EPA requirements
  • Knowledge of 111 training pathways and emergency call handler apprenticeship standards
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, and diversity principles
  • Level 3+ Teaching/Training qualification (e.g., CIPD L&D, CAVA/TAQA, AET, CET, or equivalent) ( Desirable )
