DHU’s Second Line Analysts provide technical leadership within the Data Services department and are responsible for designing, developing, and governing enterprise reporting and business intelligence solutions across DHU.
The role acts as a technical escalation point for complex reporting challenges and leading the development of scalable Power BI, SSRS, and Excel based solutions. Advanced SQL development and modern reporting architecture is a key part of the role.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to translate complex operational requirements into robust analytical solutions whilst ensuring reporting platforms remain secure, performant, and maintainable.
Second Line Analysts are responsible for maintaining technical standards, mentoring First Line Analysts, and driving continuous improvement through modern development practices and adoption of new technologies.
As a Second Line Analyst, you will:
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex reporting issues
- Provide technical leadership across Data Services
- Promote good data practices throughout DHU
- Support citizen developers positioned within the operational areas of the organisation with complex queries
- Establish and maintain reporting standards
- Review technical solutions developed by colleagues
- Contribute to and challenge the technical roadmap of Data Services
- Design and develop Power BI, SSRS, and Excel solutions
- Develop semantic models and reusable datasets
- Manage deployment pipelines across Development, Test, and Production environments
- Utilise strict version control and release management practices
- Optimise report performance and usability
- Lead the standardisation of report design for the organisation, with a focus on UX/UI and data storytelling
- Design advanced SQL solutions
- Optimise database object performance
- Support data warehouse development
- Troubleshoot complex data issues
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Lead technical design discussions
- Evaluate new technologies
- Ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable
- Own and maintain technical documentation
- Promote development standards
- Ensure reporting solutions comply with governance and security requirements
- Support data quality improvement initiatives
We are looking for someone who has:
- Significant experience in analytics based enviroment
- Advanced SQL development
- Strong microsoft excel skills
- Performance optimisation
- Experience in managing Power BI deployment pipelines
